The following pictures were obtained with a MINTRON-CCD-Video camera through the 13 inch Newton-Telescope in the outskirts of Munich, the capital of Bavaria, which at the moment has about 1.3 Million inhabitants. The camera has a sensitivity of 0.0001 lux at F0.8, which allows the observation of star clusters, faint nebulas and galaxies even in light polluted areas.

A special observation was made at the night of August 17th to August 18th, 2002, when the asteriod 2002NY40 passed the earth only in 500000 km distance. The sky was quite clear in Munich and it was very convenient to observe and record the movement of 2002NY40 (about 5 degrees per hour) with the MINTRON camera. Please click here to see a quick-motion GIF-animation of a sequence (about 900 KB),which in real-time took about four minutes.
